Equipment Set & Weapon Upgrade Guide

General information

  • Each equipment set piece (and weapons) can be upgraded up to +10. If all 4 set pieces reach at least +3, you gain additional set bonuses — the actual set bonus given is determined by the lowest upgraded piece in the 4 (so mixed sets still work, but the lowest + level determines the extra set stats).
  • Besides the percent/attack bonuses shown for upgrade levels, upgrading also grants a small flat defense increase to armor pieces.

How to upgrade (step-by-step)

Visit the one of the upgrade NPCs for example Boboko, the NPC in Central Flarine to perform equipment/weapon upgrades.

  • NPC & location
  • Power Dice (you need one per attempt)
  • Power Dice 4 — used for general upgrades +1 to +5 (drops from monsters level 21+).
  • Power Dice 6 — used for general upgrades +6 to +10 (drops from monsters level 21+).
  • Power Dice 12 — works +1 to +10 and has a higher success rate (drops from dungeon Monsters, Giants and Bosses only).
  • Materials & Currency
  • Each upgrade attempt also requires Mineral and Erons. The required amounts depend on the item’s current upgrade level.
  • You can obtain 100 Erons (or Mineral) from a single Catcher when using an Ultra Collector.
  • Protection
  • From +4 onwards, a Scroll of SProtect (Cash Shop Item) is required if you want the item to be protected from breaking on a failed attempt.
  • There is also the Low Scroll of SProtect, which is dropped by Violets. This also protects the item from destruction, but the item is reduced by one level if an upgrade attempt fails.
  • Costs & Chances

Upgrade Pity System

  • Flyff Universe uses an Upgrade Pity System for weapons, armor, accessories, piercing, and elemental upgrades.
  • The idea: with each failed attempt, the chance of success increases, reducing extreme variance in outcomes.
  • The math is based on a Markov chain: e.g. if base chance is 2%, it might start at 0.062% and increase by 0.062% per failed attempt.
  • The number of failed attempts is tied to the item, not the player. So when trading items, the fail-count carries over.
  • You can see the current number of failed attempts on the item tooltip.
