Overview
This guide follows a straightforward progression path:
Weapon and set breakpoints align with the current item progression tables: Guardian at 60, Angel at 90, Legendary Golden / Mythical Silver at 105, Bloody at 120, and Lusaka/Hernes-tier gear at 150.
- 15–60: Full INT Moon Beam Assist
- 60–105: AoE Billposter — either STR Burst Crack or INT Bgvur Tialbold
- 105–150/170: Switch to 1v1 full STR
- 150–170: Either stay 1v1 or return to AoE if you obtain Fist of Tides
- 166+: Transition into Forcemaster
- 170+: Choose between 1v1 FM and INT AoE FM; INT AoE is the fastest route to 190
15–60: Full INT Moon Beam Assist
This is the fastest leveling phase of the build. Go full INT, max Moon Beam, Quick Step, Mental Sign, and Haste, and level on the highest-level mobs you can still one-shot with Moon Beam. The rule is simple: if it takes more than one Moon Beam to kill a mob, you are wasting time.
Any stick with a Moon Beam damage % awake is great. Cast speed %, INT, and movement speed are all helpful but not mandatory.
Save the reskill you receive upon becoming Billposter at level 60. If possible, have your future full-support Ringmaster leeching you while you level.
Recommended prems:
Only use offensive prems if they are the deciding factor between one-shotting a mob or not.
- Scroll of Amplification ES
- Power Scroll (optional — less relevant later, but still effective here since they affect each tick of a DoT skill)
- Upcut Stone (optional)
60–105: AoE Billposter is the efficient route
Billposter gains a significant chunk of critical chance % and critical damage at level 105. Until then, AoE is the faster playstyle because BP will lack the critical chance needed to be truly efficient at 1v1. Treat BP primarily as an AoE class during this phase.
You have two real choices:
STR AoE (Burst Crack)
Pros
Cons
- Cheap — no Activation required
- Often does not need Vital Drink X due to low FP consumption
- Lets you swap between AoE and 1v1 if desired
- Better for gianting since you still deal reasonable direct damage
- Available immediately upon becoming Billposter
- Slower leveling than INT AoE
- Weaker assist buffs
INT AoE (Bgvur Tialbold)
Pros
Cons
- Faster leveling than STR AoE
- Can provide competent assist buffs, allowing you to split maxed buffs between BP and RM
- Expensive
- Requires Activation and Refresher Hold
- Starts properly at 70, so you will often Moon Beam from 60 to 70 first
- Cannot pivot to 1v1 without Re-Stat (INT)
- Not suited for gianting
Stats
- Full / high STR for STR AoE; full / high INT for INT AoE
- Allocate some points to STA if you need more survivability. With decent F2P-obtainable gear, no STA investment is possible — but if your gear is weaker, some STA helps.
Skills to prioritize from level 60 onward
Your RM should be the primary buff source, so your BP should not try to be a self-buffer first. That said, on INT AoE BP, Assist buffs are strong enough that splitting which character maxes which buff can make sense if you want stronger total coverage.
Key AoE buffs:
- Stonehand
- Prevention
- Burst Crack (STR AoE) or Bgvur Tialbold (INT AoE)
- Asmodeus
- Heap Up
- Cat's Reflex
- Patience
- Protect
- Quick Step
- Geburah Tiphreth
- Mental Sign (INT AoE) / Beef Up (STR AoE)
- Spirit Fortune
Gear
Get survivability from gear rather than heavy STA investment. Recommended F2P-friendly gear:
The Rashadain Suit / Yuandain Suit set is the core recommendation for its defensive profile and elemental resistance in AoE play. Consider upgrading it to around +5 / +6 with low SPros, since you will use it for a long time.
- Clockworks set: Rashadain Suit / Yuandain Suit
- Cheap CW jewelry such as Penzeru +1
- Intiret +1 (INT AoE) or Strente +1 (STR AoE)
- Stam Ring (optional, if you need extra tankiness — regular mobs drop these up to +7)
- A shield with as high a block % awake as possible
- An HP pet: Unicorn Corral
- An HP necklace — Pep +1 is preferred, but any usable Gore Necklace works (regular mobs drop these up to +7). You can also use Puran Necklace which you will get from Dekane Mine questline quest Refine Ribenuum at level 85 onwards.
Weapon and shield progression
Knuckles
For Burst Crack, get a Guardian Knuckle with a Burst Crack awake. For Bgvur Tialbold, you do not really have a good AoE option until lvl 90 with Angel Glove. You could use Glove of Iblis as an offensive AoE knuckle but it's extremely rare, so you cannot really count on getting a hold of one. Bloody Knuckle is attractive for AoE due to lifesteal; Bloody Obsidian Knuckle is the tankier alternative.
Shields
A high block % awake is extremely valuable — block is one of the best damage mitigators in the game.
- Level – Item
- 60 – Guardian Knuckle can only have Burst Crack awake
- 70 – Glove of Iblis offensive option and the first knuckle that can have Bgvur Tialbold awake
- 90 – Angel Glove
- 105 – Mythical Silver Glove (if staying AoE)
- 120 – Bloody Knuckle or Bloody Obsidian Knuckle (if staying AoE)
- 150+ – Fist of Tides (if going late AoE)
- Level – Item
- 57–120 – Ancient Shield
- 70-120 – Shield of Iblis (optional)
- 120–150 – Azure Shield
- 150+ – Lusaka's Shield (optional, AoE) / Lusaka's Crystal Shield (optional, 1v1) / Coral Shield (optional, 1v1 or AoE)
INT AoE quality-of-life tip
Set up your action slots as:
Burst Crack Bgvur Tialbold Bgvur Tialbold Bgvur Tialbold Bgvur Tialbold
Until much later, cast speed is the bottleneck. Using Burst Crack as a fast opener lets the subsequent Bgvur Tialbold hits land more efficiently. INT AoE really smooths out once you reach stable 200% cast speed, which only becomes achievable after level 170.
Awakes, piercings, and fashion
- Suit piercings: Lightning Card (4%) or Lightning Card (7%) for maximum damage
- Blessing of the Demon awakes: melee block %, speed %
- Cloak: STR / INT / STA depending on your needs (Cloak of Strong, Cloak of Wisdom, Cloak of Endurance)
Recommended prems for AoE
- Scroll of Amplification ES
- Upcut Stone
- Def-Upcut Stone
- Flask of Stone
- Refresher Hold and Activation (INT AoE only)
Considerations on 60-105 1v1
It is possible to level up as 1v1 during lvl 60 and 105 level range but the reason why it's not recommended is because most of the 1v1 damage is behind landing critical hits which you won't do until lvl 105. If you decide to go 1v1, then you could do it with the following setup:
You could upgrade knuckles to +6 with +6 element, which you can do easily with Low Scroll of SProtect. I recommend saving your upgrade resources for higher-level sets and knuckles. You could also try to max out Belial Smashing and use it when it comes from cooldown to see if your DPS is better with it compared to using auto attacks only.
- Sets: [Set:8458] / [Set:4242] (low defense, most likely you cannot kill lvl 60+ giants with this set) until lvl 75, then switch to [Set:9677] / [Set:30]
- Knuckles: Steel Knuckle > Guardian Knuckle > Historic Knuckle
- Shields: Ancient Shield > Shield of Iblis (optional, hard to get)
105–150/170: Switch to 1v1
From this point, go 1v1 full STR. This is where BP starts to feel like a proper crit-based melee class and where investing in long-term gear begins to pay off. On top of this, the 1v1 EXP bonus ramps up significantly starting in Azria.
Aim for at least a +8 set to stabilize hit rate, and a +8 / +8 knuckle is excellent value. The general rule: only invest in gear you will use for a long time.
- Blessing of the Demon awakes: crit chance % if you are short on crit, otherwise crit damage %
- Suit piercings: Lightning Card (7%) for raw damage
Gear progression: 105–150

Jewelry
From 120+, use [Set:17716] with Demol's and Gore (Champion's Ring, Champion's Demol Earring, Champion's Gore Necklace).
Champion's jewelry is a major DPS breakpoint. Once combined with the 135 set, it often allows you to replace a crit-chance pet with a crit-damage pet, opening up considerably more damage.
- Level – Set
- 105–135 – [Set:4647] / [Set:809]
- 135–150 – [Set:113] / [Set:4989]
- Level – Item
- 105–120 – Legendary Golden Gloves
- 120–150 – Bloody Knuckle
- Level – Item
- 57–120 – Ancient Shield
- 70-120 – Shield of Iblis (optional)
- 120–150 – Azure Shield
- 150+ – Lusaka's Shield (optional, AoE) / Lusaka's Crystal Shield (optional, 1v1) / Coral Shield (optional, 1v1 or AoE)
Recommended prems for 1v1
- Scroll of Amplification ES
- Upcut Stone
- Potion of Recklessness
- Pink Cotton Candy (optional)
- Concoction of Profuse Bleeding (OK to skip)
- Flask of the Tiger (OK to skip)
150–170: 1v1 and AoE are both viable
This is the point where Fist of Tides changes the conversation. Waterbomb makes late AoE genuinely competitive again. Since Waterbomb scales with offensive modifiers and can proc off AoE hits, its value rises sharply when you are hitting large packs.
Staying 1v1 from 150–170
Note that Fist of Tides is only slightly behind a dedicated 1v1 weapon for single-target use, but Waterbomb can create accidental aggro, so it is not as clean a choice for pure 1v1.
- Slot – Item
- Set – [Set:19426] / [Set:18845]
- Knuckle – Lusaka's Crystal Fist or Fist of Tides
- Shield – Lusaka's Crystal Shield
Going AoE from 150–170
This is the preferred late-AoE package before full Forcemaster optimization takes over.
Practical note: Several Wilds items in this tier — Lusaka's Crystal Fist, Lusaka's Crystal Shield, Lusaka's Shield, and [Set:19426] / [Set:18845] — are genuinely harder to obtain than standard overworld gear. Skipping them and continuing with your previous best-in-slot is perfectly reasonable.
- Slot – Item
- Set – [Set:18388] / [Set:10970]
- Knuckle – Fist of Tides
- Shield – Lusaka's Shield
- Jewelry – [Set:12670] with Demol's and Gore (INT AoE)
- Jewelry (alt) – [Set:16809] (if you need extra survivability)
166–170: Forcemaster transition
At 166, Forcemaster gains new skills and a variety of masteries, but unfortunately not enough skill points or skill pages to take everything. General recommendations:
- Dedicate one skill page to 1v1
- Dedicate one skill page to AoE
- Choose masteries carefully — you cannot take everything
- Continue playing roughly the same role you already settled into until 170, when the real specialization tools open up
170+ Forcemaster: 1v1 path
Build: Full STR
- Slot – Item
- Knuckle – Maw of Judgement (5× Thorn Card (A))
- Shield – Ankou's Heart (5× Thorn Card (A))
1v1 skill page
Lusaka's Crystal Fist remains close enough to Maw of Judgement that you can continue with it if needed.
- Concentration [Nen] (Aura Enhancement)
- Enlightenment (Quick Movement) (if using the 180 PvE set: [Set:31036] / [Set:46149])
- Enlightenment (Critical Damage) (if using the 175 set: [Set:43620] / [Set:33270])
- Bubble's Blessing (Increased Effect)
- Marked Attack
- Clear Reflection
170+ Forcemaster: INT AoE / Mage FM path
Build: Full INT
- Slot – Item
- Knuckle – Fist of Tides (Volt Card (A) for maximum AoE DPS; personally used with Thorn Card (A) for versatility)
- Shield – Ankou's Heart (Volt Card (A) for maximum AoE DPS; personally used with Thorn Card (A) for versatility)
Mage FM skill page
Skills needed to gather Nen:
Use Potion of Clarity and optionally White Cotton Candy, and prioritize cast speed % awakes on Blessing of the Demon to reach 200% cast speed.
INT AoE is the fastest route to 190 because 200% cast speed brings Forcemaster AoE DPS up to Mentalist-level output, and endgame mobs have densely packed spawns. However, Forcemaster gathering speed is still slower than dedicated mage classes.
- Concentration [Nen] (Mind Enhancement)
- Enlightenment (Knuckle Power)
- Power Palm
- Initiating Strike
- Staggering Strike
Forcemaster Ankou's Asylum hybrid DPS setup
Forcemasters typically join Ankou's Asylum as 1v1, but can also contribute as AoE DPS. AoE sections generally take longer than 1v1 sections, so being able to meaningfully contribute in both rather than only chasing high numbers at monuments is strongly preferred.
Ideally you also have 125H unlocked at this point, giving you access to two stat pages — full STR and full INT.
Recommended gear
Use Ire of Iblis to help teammates survive [Perverted Soul] Morrigan, or Touch of Rhisis if another RM dies and your tank needs more healing %. Otherwise, use Bubble's Blessing (Increased Effect) — especially on monuments.
- Slot – Item – Notes
- Knuckle – Fist of Tides with 5× Thorn Card (A) and high CC% roll – Only ~10% less 1v1 DPS than Maw of Judgement, but +300% AoE DPS
- Set – [Set:31036] / [Set:46149] – Maximum AoE DPS; similar 1v1 DPS to [Set:43620] / [Set:33270]
- Shield – Ankou's Heart with 5× Thorn Card (A) – Alternatively, keep a second shield with Volt Card (A) for AoE
- AoE pet – Dragon Cage – ATK pet gives more Waterbomb damage than Fox Cage
- 1v1 pet – King Crab Cage – Maximum 1v1 DPS
- Survival pet – Unicorn Corral – For surviving Morrigan splits
- 1v1 jewelry – [Set:17716]
- AoE jewelry – [Set:12670]
Recommended prems
- Upcut Stone
- Wateil Stone
- Potion of Recklessness
- Refresher Hold
- Potion of Clarity (Mage FM setup only)
- Activation (1v1 FM setup only)
Skill page selection
Choose between the Mage FM skill page and the 1v1 skill page based on what your team needs:
Pro tip: Even without 200% cast speed, you can contribute significant AoE DPS by using Activation and the action slot setup Burst Crack Bgvur Tialbold Bgvur Tialbold Bgvur Tialbold Bgvur Tialbold. Be cautious around [Anguished Soul] Mara, as AoEing there at sub-200% cast speed is risky. Full STR also contributes decent AoE DPS since Waterbomb scales with STR, giving you further flexibility between stat pages and skill pages depending on team composition.
For example Forcemaster Ankou setups, see the Zero Deaths channel on YouTube, an example video of mage FM:
!youtube(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFK69Uxt77U)
- Short on AoE DPS? Use the Mage FM setup built around Concentration [Nen] (Mind Enhancement)
- Short on 1v1 DPS? Use the 1v1 setup built around Concentration [Nen] (Aura Enhancement)
